This recording manifests the last of our three shows in Yugoslavia, when this country still existed as a fragment of former power. It was the 1st of November in 1997, only 2 years after both, the Bosnian War and the Croatian War of Independance ended and shortly before the Kosovo War started in 1998. On this trip we discovered true friendship, reliance and that nothing could ever devide us from this point on.
A line of unforseeable incidents and accidents struck us down and there was no moment to relax or even enjoy our stay. Any time we thought that we could let us go for a second, next thing happened. Everything turned out to be a problem. Food, car traffic, accomodations, scedules, promoters, clubs and then police and secret service. I spent 4 hours handcuffed to a locker for filming while driving to police station. I got interrogated in a filthy Serbian cellar by drunk policemen shouting „Neo Nazi“ at me. „I am not a Nazi!“ I shouted back at them. Alex saved my ass when he succeeded to explain that we are just some poor devils trying to bring SKA to Serbia.
At last a wasted tourbus and a home trip by train. Many other bands would've called it a day after the second gig already, which was the most chaotic gig we ever had in 37 years of working in the SKA business but real SKA hell awaited us after this show at the KST!
On the evening of the concert we arrived late in Belgrade after a horrible ride on Serbian so called highways. It was dark but the bomb impacts could be seen overall on the way to the center of the city. I barely remember the arrival at the club and what happenend before the gig, we were just so tired and fucked up only Slibovic, a wicked Serbian Schnaps could fix us. There was a TV-Station and a few Radios wanting interviews from us and three 7 feet tall Skinheads all wearing glasses wanted an interview for some fictional SKAzine, that's what I remeber from the haze. Finally the gig began, the rest is history.
